John E. Bryant, Senior Pastor
Pastor John is the senior pastor at Mount Vernon Grace Brethren. He
was commissioned in 1982 from the Mansfield, Ohio Grace Brethren Church
to be a church planting pastor to the Knox County community of Mount
Vernon. It was during his four years of active U. S. Naval duty, during
the Viet Nam war years, that John met the Lord and received a call
from the Lord to enter into the pastoral ministry. However, before
he could begin his formal training at Columbia Bible College in Columbia,
South Carolina, he met and married the lovely Janie Thomas in the
summer of 1974. Both John and Janie are natives to the North Central
Ohio area. After completing the requirements for a Bachelor of Arts
in Biblical Education from Columbia Bible College, John and Janie
moved back to Ohio where he spent a one year internship on staff of
a Grace Brethren Church and then another two years gaining valuable
practical experience at Mansfield before leaving for Mount Vernon
to begin the work there. Pastor John is active in Biblical counseling
and is a professor of post graduate theological studies. Pastor Bryant
is a national speaker and leader. He is sought out as a guide/teacher
for Holy Land studies and tours. Both he and Janie were early leaders in
the home school movement. They have three adult sons, Jonathan, Justin
and Jesse. |
